Norwegian Espen Fadnes claimed victory at the World BASE Race 2010, a one on one wingsuit competition held in Infijorden, Norway. The man from Trondheim proved unbeatable through to the final round and won the final race against Croatian Robert Pecnik to take the win. Jean Noel Itzstein from France came third.
The race, which took place over several days, was marked by the disqualification of both winners of previous years. Last years BASE race champ Frode Johanessen was eliminated in the semifinal round despite having flown the fastest time, he got disqualified for invading his opponents lane during the heat. In the final it was Ronny Risvik, who had won the race in 2008, who got disqualified for an unsafe approach and landing. This opened the way for their fellow countryman to claim his first ever victory in a major Wingsuit competition.

BASE jumping is the activity of parachuting from a fixed object as opposed to skydiving, which is parachuting from an aircraft. Fixed objects can be buildings, antennas, smoke stacks, bridges, power towers, cliffs, cable cars, dams or any other object high enough to jump from.
