The 2nd edition of the ProBASE Wingsuit Race will take place form October 1st to the 3rd 2010 in Stechelberg near Lauterbrunnen in Switzerland. The Elite of Wingsuit Pilots will get together to participate at this race where the BASE Jump World Champion 2010 will be crowned.
After the tremendous success of last years' competition, the expectations at this years event are huge. Piltos from over 16 nations have put down their nomination and accepted the challenge of the race. Title holder Luka Fornazaric from Slovenia will also be present just as last years runner ups Harry Kloska from Germany and Ludo Woerth from France. The Swiss are again attacking with an armada of Piltos, spearheaded by Moritz Schellenberg, trying to win at their home ground. However, the attention will definitly lie with the surprise winner at this years BASE Race in Norway, a man called Espen Fadnes. The Norwegian, by no means an unknown in the BASE community and certainly an accomplished Wingsuit Pilot, had however not been able to convince at major competitions until earlier this summer when he surprised everyone by choosing a completley different line of flight from the rest of pilots at the BASE Race in Infijorden, crowning himself worlds fastest flying man.
The ProBASE Wingsuit Race 2010 will also, for the first time ever in BASE jumping, feature a womens challenge, showing that the sport is also gaining in popularity amongst female athletes. The Race track and distance to fly will stay the same from last year, however a few changes have been introduced, mainly to improve safety.

BASE jumping is the activity of parachuting from a fixed object as opposed to skydiving, which is parachuting from an aircraft. Fixed objects can be buildings, antennas, smoke stacks, bridges, power towers, cliffs, cable cars, dams or any other object high enough to jump from.
